This is the archive of Higher Flyer Destinations. The destinations are no longer kept up to date, but there is still much of interest for pilots. None of the data is current and should obviously not be used for flight planning or trip planning.

Why do many Pilots lose interest and allow their  hard earned licence to lapse?

One reason can be that after the initial challenge of gaining the licence, and a few trips around the local area with friends, perhaps the odd cross country to familiar fields visited during training, a PPL often loses interest - it can be a bit of an anticlimax.

But why? - maybe because we don’t realise just what’s out there waiting to be discovered!

 A pilot’s licence opens up a world of adventure and travel - in a small aeroplane in the UK and Europe the possibilities are endless. Within a short flying time from your airfield there may be historic cities, remote islands,  castles and chateaux,  beaches and golf courses,  charming country airstrips, friendly farmer’s fields,  international airports where private pilots are welcome (yes they do exist), theme parks,  aircraft museums into which you can fly!
