Billund EKBI |
Date of Visit = 08/99 Pilot: = John Webb e-mail = jwebb@i-o.com Field Report = We used Billund as a convenient refueling stop en route to Sweden. We arrived in the afternoon rush hour for Maersk 737 arrivals. Had to orbit for a good quarter of an hour while five of the big blue boys landed and an A320 took off. I would advise checking the schedules and avoiding that time because within an hour there was virtually no heavy movements at all. Considering it is a big international airport it really wasn't busy and very GA friendly. GA parking is way down the eastern end on the grass but the fuel pumps are way up the western end. Make sure you ask on the twr freq to taxi to the pumps and then have the ground plan to hand as the instructions are quite complex. Having refuelled there is room to leave the aircraft closeby quite safely and it is then a short walk into "C" for landing fees, met and flight planning. Access to the terminal is also allowed for shops, banks, loos etc. If you are in the GA park you will need transport of some kind. Landing fee up to 1500kg was Dkr 80 c£7,20 (credit card OK) Fuel at 56p/litre= quite cheap but carnet or cash only. Banks and all facilities in the terminal, modern and clean. There is a good motor museum by the airport and of course Legoland is nearby. Internet Site = http://www.billund-airport.dk e-mail = info@billund-airport.dk |
