Cherbourg LFRC

Date of Visit = June 1999

Pilot: = John Pittwood

e-mail = john_pittwood@msn.com

Field Report = Visited with 3 other pilots and an instructor from Halfpenny Green, Via Le Touqet (Lunch). Then down the coast nice view of the Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches.

Aircraft PA28R G BOBA.

Airfield was easy to find and the ATC helpful.

Customs was none existant we just walked in paid the landing fee.

The staff phoned for a taxi, about 10 min wait, when we got into town the driver asked what time we wanted to return and arranged to meet us.

As with any french town there was plenty of choice for food only problem we found was that we where too early for some resturants.

Return flight plan was by means of a computerised system, it appeared to have worked until I called ATC. We had missed the registration off!! No great problem he just asked us to taxi to the stand in front of the tower, then said ok and gave taxi instruction.
