Field Report = Granville is already a well known destination for British pilots judging from the number of Golf-Something parked on the grass on a hot summer weekend.

Granville is located on the North West coast of France, not far from the Mont Saint Michel.

Landing fee is a modest 25FRF (cash) payable at the aero-club. Nothing else is expected from you if you want to stay overnight. There is a bar restaurant on the field but I've only tasted the ice creams, so I can't really make a recommendation. Food is probably tastier downtown, but you need a taxi (Taxi Granvillais phone numer is signalled on a wall outside the ABC Aviation building).

The coast around Granville is a great sight from the air : the immense sand bars of the Mont Saint Michel bay and the fast moving waters create an ever changing and enchanting landscape. Beware that you cannot anymore fly over the Mont Saint Michel under 3.000ft, which is a pity as this is an amazing sight. Not far, the Dinard airfield will take you closer to Saint Malo which is worth a full day visit. The Chausey Islands across Granville are also worth a fly over.

The airfield itself is very conveniently located near the beach, you can walk up there in 5 minutes and enjoy a nice swim in the gulf of Saint Malo while the local student pilots will try all their might to ditch the Cessna 150 in the sea at each touch and go, making some of the sunbathers wondering whether "this place is really safe ???"

To my knowledge you can't clear customs in Granville, nor get weather information but fuel is supposedly available. You may find some strong crosswind upon landing. Lots of Ultra Lights and Micro Lights are flying around, so open your eyes. The grass taxiway is not very wide and a bit rough.
