Dijon Longvic   LFSD

Field Report = This joint-use military/civil field is ideal for visiting the medieval town of Dijon in the centre of Cote D'Or region of Bourgogne. Despite its size it welcomes GA and provides full customs facilities providing that one hour's notice is given (don't believe some flight guides).

There is no hangarage available, but plenty of tie downs, and the ground-staff are very friendly.

The restaurant on the field is well worth a visit, and other facilities at the aiport include AVIS and HERTZ car hire. In town, try L'ETOILE for great regional cooking, and the MERCURE in the town centre is perhaps the best budget hotel.

One word of warning. Look out for weekend closing times (especially lunch time). You WILL NOT be allowed to land when the field is closed and they are very pedantic over timings. One minute late is too late. Try the nearby Dijon Darois (home of Robin aircraft) if caught out.

Field Report = Used Dijon as a staging post en-route from Elba to Elstree.

Restaurant (which is called Le Petit Prince - named after StExupery's children's book) is good (with the best mustard of any airfield restaurant anywhere!)

Ground staff very friendly and helpful - nice clean facilities for the passengers too.

Landing fees reasonable - around £13 for a C310. service from the flight office first rate, with met and flightplan presented in a "proper" folder,

An added bonus on the way out was the close up view of two Mirage 2000's landing and taxying past us at close proximity while we waited to enter the runway. Oh, and watch out for the arrester gear by the displaced threshold!
